The Control-Based Mobile Ad-Hoc Networking (CBMANET)
Program Manager: Dr. Timothy Gibson
The goal of the Control-Based Mobile Ad-Hoc Networking (CBMANET) program is to research, design, and demonstrate a revolutionary Mobile Ad-hoc NETwork (MANET) that improves network effectiveness and performance from a military user's perspective by an order of magnitude. The program will capitalize on specific opportunities to improve MANETs including: more effective and adaptive resource allocation based on incremental algorithms; cross-layer designs based on optimization theoretic breakthroughs; and novel protocols for wireless tactical networking based on information theoretic breakthroughs. The central deliverable will be novel wireless network software (functional components, interfaces, algorithms, and protocols) that the performers ultimately integrate with GFE hardware.
