The Advanced Night Vision System (ANVS) program is developing the core technologies for improving our night vision capability in urban operations.

Using advanced third generation night vision systems, U.S. nighttime operations have provided troops with unfettered access throughout the battlefield. Recent technology development and technology transfer provide peer and near-peer nations with similar capabilities. This increased capability, coupled with the increased tempo of indoor/constrained space urban operations, threatens operational speed and effectiveness. The ANVS program is developing technologies designed to counter those infringements by current and future enemy combatants.
