CAPT Duane Ashton, USN

Captain Duane Ashton, USN, joins the STO as the Tango Bravo Program and Submarine Shaftless Stern Demonstrator (S3D) DARPA-Navy liaison (Deputy PM) and as a Program Manager. CAPT Ashton is the central point of contact for all Navy concerns and coordination, support interactions, discussions, and briefings by DARPA (and for DARPA) to the Navy, and assist in conducting technical reviews and assessments. Further, CAPT Ashton is encouraged to explore related interests, develop new programs and introduce those programs to the Navy.

His past assignments include: Branch Head, Submarine Programs and Strategic Programs, Submarine Warfare Division, Chief of Staff Chief Regime Crimes Liaison's Office; Commanding Officer, USS Columbia (SSN 771), Strategic Policy Planner, Nuclear Arms Control Division, J-5, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff; Executive Officer, USS Nebraska (SSBN 739 BLUE); Graduate Studies, Navy War College, Submarine Liaison Officer/Submarine Warfare Officer, Commander Carrier Group Three; Navigator/Operations Officer USS Salt Lake City (SSN 716) and USS La Jolla (SSN 701); Branch Head, Strategic Communications, COMNAVTELCOM.

His education includes a BS in Mechanical Engineering University of California Los Angeles, and a Masters in National Security and Strategic Affairs from the Naval War College, Newport, RI.
