IA OPX

OPX's objective was to engage operational partners in accelerating fielding of information assurance technologies and increasing feedback to information assurance research. Operational evaluations would be conducted of experimental information assurance technologies in warfighter hands.

Technical Objectives and Approach:

• Accelerate fielding of advanced IA&S technologies
• Increase feedback from operators to research community
• Evaluate effectiveness of research strategies in operational setting
• Conduct disciplined, repeatable experimentation using advanced security technologies
• Focus on integrated solutions vice standalone technologies
• Define transition approaches for each technology
• Provide integrated solutions to real user problems

Accomplishments:

• Embedded firewall demonstration in major Navy experiment
• Converted intrusion detection algorithms into data reduction tools for military computer emergency response team use
• Demonstrated situational awareness and control of distributed host based security technologies in military operational environment
• Demonstrated scalability of security technology in operational venue
