Description
This is a Request for Information (RFI) by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), regarding industry participation in an industry networking poster session and exhibit at the Young Faculty Award (YFA) workshop, to be held on or about 11/26/07 at a location in the vicinity of Arlington, VA. The YFA program and workshop offer a venue by which research ideas proposed by young faculty can be sponsored and promoted within the Microsystems Technology Office (MTO) at DARPA. The YFA program is expected to provide MTO with revolutionary research ideas, in the areas of interest to MTO: 1) electronics, 2) photonics, 3) micro and nano electro mechanical systems (MEMS/NEMS), 4) architectures, and 5) algorithms, that are critical to future technology developments. The networking session and exhibit at the Award Workshop are intended to introduce the workshop faculty attendees to the range of industrial participants who have been involved in, or are interested in being involved in, future DARPA efforts. The YFA Research Announcement can be found on the MTO website at: http://www.darpa.mil/mto/solicitations/baa07-18.
DARPA solicits potential industry participants to submit ideas related to this topic for use by the Government in identifying the participants for the networking session. DARPA requests that submittals briefly and clearly describe the company's interest in DARPA, personnel who would attend the session, the company's areas of interest as they relate to DARPA MTO's areas of interest (this information is expected to be presented in poster form at the session), and its willingness to team with faculty.
Submissions will be considered and invitations will be provided to a number of industry participants to attend the networking session at the YFA workshop. Industry participants will have the opportunity to present a poster describing some of their MTO-related interests and activities, visit the posters presented by the faculty, and to meet these faculty and discuss potential future collaborations. If industry response warrants limitation on attendance, industry participants will be limited to a maximum of two attendees per organization.
The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this RFI or to otherwise pay for the information solicited. Responses should be limited to three pages. Any proprietary concepts or information should be clearly identified as such. Input on technical aspects of the responses may be solicited by DARPA from non-Government consultants/experts who are bound by appropriate non-disclosure requirements. For all RFI responses, an additional, non-proprietary cover page is also requested identifying your company name, technical point of contact and contact information. RFI responses should be received no later than COB Nov 5, 2007.
RFI Responses should be submitted in a commonly used electronic format and may be e-mailed or mailed on a CD-ROM to:
