Ms. Melanie Dumas

Program Manager

Bio:

Ms. Dumas became a Program Manager for DARPA in June 2008. Her research interests include multisensory systems, large scale databases, automated target identification and tracking, artificial intelligence, and robotics.

Prior to joining DARPA, Ms. Dumas was with General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc, where she was the lead software developer for the Predator UAV family Air Vehicle Simulation (AVSim) program, and prior to that ITT Aerospace / Communications, where she developed software for the handheld SINCGARS radio and programmed systems to recognize speech in high noise environments. She participated in the DARPA Grand and Urban Challenges as the software lead of Axion Racing and their fully autonomous vehicle that drove over 60 miles in desert and urban environments.

Ms. Dumas earned her M.S. (Computer Science/AI) from the University of California-San Diego in 2002 and her B.S. (Computer Science and Psychology) from the University of California-Santa Cruz in 1998.
