Description
Special Notice SN07-53: SINGLE PHOTON DETECTION WORKSHOP; WORKSHOP DATE: November
28-29, 2007; REGISTRATION DEADLINE: November 26, 2007;
TECHNICAL POC: Dr. Matthew Goodman, DARPA/DSO
The Defense Sciences Office (DSO) of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency
(DARPA) is hosting a Workshop to discuss innovative research that will enable
development of number-resolving single photon detection systems.
The Single Photon Detection Workshop will be held at 3811 N. Fairfax Dr., Suite
400, Arlington, VA, 22203. The goal of the workshop is to explore the current
state of the art in single photon detection, with an emphasis on number-resolving
avalanche photodiodes (APDs) and superconducting nanowire single photon detectors
(SNSPDs). The success of this workshop will rely heavily on group discussion
of the most significant research challenges in the development of each type of
detection system; as such, it is expected that participants will have relevant
research and development experience with single photon detectors or related technologies.
The workshop will take place on November 28, 2007 between 5:00-7:00 PM, and November
29, 2007 between 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM. Sign-in and badging will take place on 28
November only; any participants who will not attend on the 28th must notify the
workshop organizers in advance.
There is no fee for the Single Photon Detection Workshop. Details on the workshop,
including registration information, can be found at the following URL: http://www.schafertmd.com/spdworkshop.
Registration is limited by the venue capacity (maximum of 40 people, maximum
3 from each institution). The registration cutoff date is November 26, 2007,
or at attendance capacity, whichever comes first. If there is additional space
available after the registration deadline, institutions will be permitted additional
participants on a first-come, first-serve basis. Further administrative information
is available from Ms. Bessie DeClouette (Bessie.DeClouette.ctr@darpa.mil).
Additional technical information can be obtained from Dr. Matthew Goodman (Matthew.Goodman@darpa.mil).
Please refer to the Single Photon Detection Workshop in any correspondence. This
special announcement is not a request for proposals.
