Dr. Judah Goldwasser joined DSO as a program manager in June 2007. He comes to DARPA from the Office of Naval Research (ONR), where he was the program officer for both energetic materials and undersea warheads.
While at ONR, Dr. Goldwasser initiated and managed both fundamental and applied research programs in high-performance and insensitive energetics, MEMS-based torpedo safety and arming devices, enhanced performance torpedo warhead technologies, and explicit dynamic simulation of target effects to underwater explosions. In addition, he participated in a number of multi-Service, OSD, and international S&T initiatives.
Dr. Goldwasser’s current research interests extend beyond energetic materials and munitions technologies to the understanding of microstructural effects on macroscopic material properties and their exploitation to the control of the continuum response of multifunctional materials for a variety of applications.
Prior to his position at ONR, Dr. Goldwasser served as deputy technology area manager for undersea weaponry at the Office of Naval Technology, and as a research chemist at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in White Oak, Maryland. He received his master’s degree in chemistry from York University, and his doctorate in polymer science from the University of Waterloo.
